Balancing the Releasing of Control
This piece took me for a ride! Initially this tree woman was all about our innate power, reflected in her ability to control the elements. Getting a little to lofty and lost inside of superhero fantasies, losing touch with reality. Let’s just say my mental health journey has been a wild one.
Through life events and contemplation, the piece ultimately brought forward a new message; that of releasing perceived control.
Gripping tight to our expectations brings more awareness to just how much is outside of our control. Releasing that need to “know” and predict brings so much more peace.
Letting go and surrendering are at the heart of transformation. So is self-esteem, but we must be carful of self-absorption.
The need to label and figure it all out comes from a place of fear instead of trust. We can trust that we don’t need outside systems to tell us who we are, where we should go, or what will happen next. Seeking constant answers often means we don’t trust ourselves and we need to work on that inner relationship to experience peace.
This painting holds that tension; the desire to feel grounded, even if forced, and the quiet strength of standing in uncertainty regardless.
There’s a certain peace that comes when you stop trying to explain yourself or manipulate reality. Time to simply allow!
No matter what we’re taught or systems we engage with, meaning is filtered through our own interpretation. That interpretation can empower us or harm us. Once I saw that clearly, such as through my adult eyes, fear lost its hold on me.
You don’t need a roadmap to trust your next step.
